Welcome To Coastal Urban Co-operative Bank
The Coastal Urban Co-operative Bank, a bank with a difference designed for the indigent fishermen of inland and coastal strip of Kollam was founded by Sri. Raphael J. Rodriguez (Ex-MLA, Travancore – Cochin Government) in 1950. Since its inception, with the able guidance of a dedicated team, the institution functioned in a truly professional and systematic manner which enabled it to obtain the RBI License in 1986. This was a milestone which enhanced the reputation of the bank so as to make it compatible with the nationalised bank and thereby further cemented the trust of the general public.
Though the organisation was initiated for the upliftment of the members of the fishermen community especially for their economic ventures and to encourage thrift among them, the institution blossomed into a mammoth financial hub for the public at large, with all the features of a full-fledged bank.
Today, the bank has completed 72 years of glorious existence, exploring and expanding its network of business through its nine branches monitored and administered by the Head Office situated in its own premises near the Kollam Collectorate. The bank has 384.68 crores of deposits, 236.99 crores of advances and has a total turnover of 621.67 crore. In this era of digitalisation, the bank has transformed itself to meet the challenges of the present day banking technologies. The bank today is equipped enough to extend full-fledged range of services to its customers comparable to the nationalised and scheduled banks with all new gen-banking facilities.

Amongst its proud achievements, it is worth to mention that Coastal Bank is the only Urban Co-operative Bank in the state to generously disburse large amounts in micro finance loans to marginalised and the underprivileged.
